Ok, so I haven't updated in nearly a year. Well. I have learned quite a bit about content management websites and intend to change over to a Drupal-based site as soon as I get the chance. That should make updateing easier. After a busy fall re-working the Friends of the Inyo website I am starting the busy season anew. My next trip is with Crossroads School, then some trips with Friends of the Inyo. Here comes spring!

Surprise Canyon trip

Just back from working a trip for FOI, up Surprise Canyon in the Panamint Range, with some intrepid volunteers. We spent a day pulling tamarisk, an invasive plant, and part of a day just exploring the area. This is one of those rarest of desert canyons, with an extensive riparian area and flowing stream. Access is easy - to a point. Once above the waterfalls which are low in the canyon, the stream is quite brush-choked and walking becomes a bit more of a patience-tester.
